contemporary :: Amelia Thwaites

Show Dance was where Amelia started her 15 years of dance training, she is now a full-time student at Conroy Performing Arts Centre and studying her Teacher’s Certificate through the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dance (CSTD).

She has performed in numerous shows around Brisbane, Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. She has performed at the closing ceremony of The Commonwealth Games 2018, flashmob for Bindi Irwin’s birthday at Australia Zoo, back up dancer for Paulini and Emma Pask at the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols.

Amelia has also completed a number of examinations including advanced levels of Ballet and received the top mark for high grades in Modern Jazz. In her time dancing at Australian Dance Performance Institute, she also received her Certificate III in Performing Arts while in Grade 10 at school.

As Amelia has trained at various studios, she has taken classes with numerous industry recognised choreographers such as Zac Brazenas, Jack Chambers, Blake John Wood, Jasmine Meakin, Bodie Fullerton, Lucy Ellis, Sam Marks, Mitchell Fistrovic and Lauren Seymour.

Contemporary has always interested Amelia through the freedom of movement and lyrical style, she finds a more interpretive style is important in dance training and always lots of fun for kids. She can’t wait to share her passion for this with the younger generation.
